KITCHEN RENOVATION SERVICES

We offer a wide variety of kitchen renovation services depending on the scope of your project and your budget. We offer anything from resurfacing countertops and repainting cabinetry to fully gutting a kitchen and reworking the entire footprint of the kitchen to make it more efficient and usable for your needs.

Things to Consider

If you’re resurfacing, you need to think more about what materials you want and how those are going to function for you.

If it’s a full renovation, there’s just so much to think about because it’s an opportunity to make your kitchen function exactly like you need it to. For example, you may want to think about a cooking triangle so you have your appliances in the correct location to be easier to open, more livable, and better for entertaining. You need to consider your family size and how many people you’re going to have in your kitchen area at different times. You need to consider the things that you use in your kitchen space and make sure that there's a place for them at the end of the project. You also want to think about the overall kitchen aesthetic.

Kitchen Lighting

Lighting in any project is also really important and often not thought about enough. I'll go into kitchens and there'll be only one lit ceiling fan and that's it. No recess cans, no task lighting. No under counter light. And all of that is a super important. Lighting is also very functional for cooking and has an effect on people's psyche and how they feel. Lighting helps you, family members, and guests feel like you’re in a warm, inviting, comfortable home.

Kitchen Contractors Matter

Kitchen renovations require very specific types of detailed work.

I have an amazing cabinet person that I've worked with for well over 15 years. They have such attention to detail. Knowing where your silverware drawers are going to be and your trash and your recycling - all of those things are important details. Having your cabinets done right and well is important because it’s often the biggest component of your kitchen space. I have a client right now that was thinking about going to Ikea. There's nothing wrong with going to Ikea. That can work. But the cabinets are the biggest portion of their kitchen space, so in the end they elected to put more effort into making sure that the cabinets were well thought out, built with attention to detail, and installed correctly.

Dependability of Kitchen Contractors is Important

Dependability is very important along with having trades people who are really good at their craft. We work with contractors that actually show up and stick to a schedule. Sometimes the unforeseen can happen, but if it does, we are able to work through any challenges and still get things done in a timely manner. That’s because we work with dependable, trustworthy contractors, that have stood the test of time. They are highly motivated to do good work because that’s how business works. They do good work and we all get good referrals.

Our kitchen renovations services include managing other contractors as well: We employ an excellent electrician and an expert plumber. We have a trusted tile person and a countertop fabricator. I've seen some poor installations of countertops where seams really show, and it's those kinds of things that we all pay attention to. It makes a difference to have people working on your project who really care about doing it right.

And there's accountability. Subcontractors that have worked with me for many projects and over many years know they're going to see me on the next job and the job after that. So it's not just come in, get it done, and go. They want to make sure that it's done right, and they also follow up if there's something wrong. It's so nice to have contractors that are going to come back and fix something if you need it fixed. Even if it's six months from now. I had a situation where a sink kept cracking and it was replaced three times. If you order something online, you're kind of stuck with it. Customer service is important throughout every portion of the project.

Three Kitchen Remodel Ideas to Keep In Mind:

  1. Take time to inventory what you have and where you want it to be in your kitchen, so that it functions well for you.

  2. Think about overall layout. How many people are going to be in a space? I have a client right now and she hosts parties of 40 people on a regular basis. So it's really important to have a big open space. Typically a kitchen island needs four feet around it, but they needed way more space, because they so often have a lot of people in the kitchen. Think about how your going to use the kitchen and who will be in the kitchen. That helps us design a space you’re going to feel good in for all types of situations.

  3. Lighting is super important. We want to think through both functional and aesthetic lighting to help prepare meals as well as feel great in your kitchen remodel.

What’s the kitchen remodel process?

Our process can really vary based on different situations. There are clients who have a brother in law who’s an electrician or their cousin is a plumber. They sometimes want to use those people. That's fine too. Every process is slightly different, but it starts with:

  • Calling me! Walking the job, talking about where you are now and where you want to be is obviously the very first step.

  • Planning

  • Getting a budget together

  • Getting bids and

  • Coordinating the subcontractors

If you’re considering resurfacing your countertops and cabinetry or a full kitchen remodel, give me a call. I’ll walk with you through your kitchen, and we can visualize how you really want your kitchen to function and feel. Just don’t wait too long! I hear client’s all the time tell me that they wish they would have remodeled their kitchen a long time ago.
